How is Highbury Surgical Recovery different from other home health care companies?We specialize in providing post-surgical care rather than palliative or convalescent care. Our critical care and recovery room RNs are able to make critical assessments and act quickly to avoid potential complications. Should you require a homemaker or ongoing homecare, we would be happy to refer you to another home health care provider. What services does Highbury Surgical Recovery provide?We'll meet you at the hospital or surgery centre, get an update from the discharge nurse, arrange to have your prescriptions filled and to pick up any other drugstore items or food required. We'll organize transportation service for you to your home or hotel. Once we've got you comfortable, we'll continue to monitor your vital signs, administer medications as needed, and take care of your incisions, including any drains. We'll help you stay active, clean and comfortable, and will organize mobile spa treatments if you'd like. We'll consult surgeon if there are any issues or concerns. And we'll let your friends and family know how you're doing if you'd like. We'll arrange transportation and take you to follow-up appointments with your surgeon and accompany you to the airport and help you check in if you're traveling. What is a critical care nurse?Critical care nurses have received advanced certification to care for critically ill individuals and their families. Critical care RNs have the theory and clinical skills to care for stable and unstable patients. They work in medical-surgical, neuro-surgical, trauma, coronary and cardiovascular intensive care units, where they assess and recognize subtle changes in a patient's condition. What is a recovery room nurse?Recovery room nurses have received advanced certification to care for patients immediately after surgery requiring anesthesia. They monitor patients during this critical period, observing closely and responding quickly to early warning signs of post-operative complications. What does the fee for nursing care include?Fees include the services of your private RN, vital sign monitoring, and dressing changes. You will receive a pre-operative assessment by one of our RNs. This will give you the opportunity to ask questions related to your surgical recovery and will allow us to give you the information you need. Following your discharge from our care, you will receive a follow up phone call within 48 hours to answer your questions and discuss any concerns. What does the fee for nursing care NOT include?Fees for over-the-counter (OTC) or prescription (Rx) medications; supplies such as food, soap and tissues; your hotel room and any hotel amenities. Will my extended health care benefits reimburse me for nursing care?Some extended health benefit plans provide for post-surgical care by RNs. Please check with your plan provider to determine what services are covered. You will need an Extended Health Care Qualification form filled in by your surgeon. Where will Highbury Surgical Recovery provide care?Our RNs will provide care in the comfort and privacy of your own home or hotel room of your choice. How much does Highbury Surgical Recovery charge?$75.00/hour with a minimum of 4 hours for the initial engagement. We will customize a care package to meet your individual nursing requirements and speed your recovery. We may charge an hourly or a pre-determined flat rate.
